Almost a continuation of Heraklion, this lively resort is situated on a 5km long sandy beach, and is popular with locals as well as holidaymakers. Amoudara is mostly purpose built and has all the tourists’ amenities you would expect from a developing holiday resort. The long stretch of roadside has a great choice of shops, café-bars, restaurants and traditional tavernas and couple of clubs for the night birds.

The central location of Amoudara makes it a perfect base to explore the island with the added bonus of being close to the capital Heraklion, a 10min ride, with all its great shopping and archaeological sites; it’s also a great opportunity to experience a typical Cretan working town.
