An Introduction to Kolymbia
|
- Located on the east coast of Rhodes, conveniently situated, halfway between
Rhodes Town 25km to the north and Lindos 19kms to the south, both of which can
be easily reached by regular buses or taxi.
- A picturesque and sleepy resort - almost undiscovered - with a mountain
backdrop and a super beach that shelves gently into the sea. Kolymbia has a tiny
harbour - almost enclosed by a circle of rock, and a couple of small tavernas
nearby.
- The resort lies in the shadow of Tsambike Mountain, and if you're feeling
ambitious (or energetic), you can take a hike up to the small monastery at the
very top. The views from there are quite spectacular, so don't forget your
camera!
- The hotels around the village provide most of the nightly entertainment
with professional animation shows and live Greek music. If you want to get out
and venture away from your hotel you will find a handful of shops, bars and
tavernas. For a greater choice head for Faliraki just a short ride away, it has
a livelier atmosphere and an abundance of shops bars, nightclubs and
restaurants.
- Kolymbia is ideal for families - as the water is quite shallow - and for
those wanting to relax and enjoy the beach and the sea.
- Journey time: Rhodes airport to Kolymbia is approx 30kms - 50mins by taxi
- What we really like:
The unspoilt nature of the resort, the peace and
quite, the tiny harbour with the tavernas and the lovely beach with shallow
waters.
