An Introduction to Lardos
|
- Situated on the south east coast of Rhodes, 10km (15-20min ride) south of
Lindos and 60km (1 hr) south of cosmopolitan Rhodes Town, Lardos is a charming,
traditional Greek village. A regular bus and taxi service operates to Lindos,
Pefkos and Rhodes Town and organised excursions are available to the Acropolis
of Lindos.
- Lardos village is everything you'd expect from a friendly, typical, Greek
village. Surrounded by olive groves and orchards; the striking bell tower of the
local church; the quaint local shops - it really is picturesque! Life centres
around the main village tree-lined square, with an impressive Italian fountain
flowing with natural spring water.
- With a scenic backdrop of rolling hills and 2km (20-25min walk) from Lardos
village, the idyllic beach, lined with tavernas and cafes, is predominantly soft
sand and shingle; with calm, crystal clear waters, stunning views and a wide
range of water-sports at your disposal.
- At night the square lights up, as do the tavernas and bars and there is a
buzzy feel to the place. Soak in the atmosphere, whilst watching the world go by
and the locals sipping ouzo and playing backgammon. Occasionally a local band
plays live music in the square.
- Ideal for couples and families looking for relaxation and sampling the
simple pleasures of village life close to the beach.
