If you're coming to Crete to party, then
you’ve come to the right place, Malia is a famous full-on party
resort, and it has pretty much everything you need for an action
packed holiday. For a start it has unlimited nightlife and
inexpensive eating, a good ingredient for a successful holiday plus a
gorgeous sandy beach - one of the best in Crete - that stretches on
for miles. You’ll need a good beach to sleep off the last night's
excesses, and for those with energy, there are water-sports, jet-skis,
ringos and pedaloes to amuse yourself.
Behind the Malia beach there's a string of bars
and snack bars – so you can take a break from the all day tanning.
And along the 'strip' leading inland you can virtually name your menu
– fast food, Mexican, Chinese and Indian and of course lots of tavernas. This single road is also the hub of after-dark
activity, crammed with bars, pubs and clubs that open at dusk and
close at dawn.
If
you can escape from the fun and the beach there are other popular
resorts close by like Stalis and Hersonissos and lots of organised
excursions. Frequent buses run along the coast and there are plenty of
taxis on hand. Clearly Malia is not the place to find
traditional Crete life or peace and quiet, though there is the
original village of Malia just inland to the south where there is a
different atmosphere with some traditional tavernas and cafes.
JOURNEY TIME
Heraklion Airport to Malia is approx 40Kms (25miles) - 35mins by taxi
