of shops, bars and
restaurants as well as a pretty fishing harbour and a small Venetian fortress.
Paphos was the old capital of Cyprus. The upper part of the town, with
its local thriving shops, and local
market is characterised by its classical type buildings, old churches and
museums. The lower part of Paphos (Kato Paphos), broadly covers the
seafront area which leads to the harbour and its Venetian fort,
the majority of the hotels are situated in Katos Paphos with its many
attractions and a scattering of small sandy beaches.
From Katos Paphos, a 20 minute drive
along the coastal road of Tombs of the Kings, leads you to the lovely beaches
of Coral Bay. This part of Paphos has seen many changes over the last few years,
new holiday accommodation, tavernas and shops have sprung up in and around the
bays, thus creating a small compact resort. Coral Bay is suitable for those
seeking a tranquil and relaxing holiday.
A holiday in Paphos is a varied experience; it can be soaking up the
sun on a deserted beach; it can be shopping in town; or it can be
spent visiting old ruins steeped in history.
