If
your ideal resort is a great beach, lots of bars and tavernas to
choose from and couple of discos for good measure, but you don’t want
it as wild or frenzied as its neighbours Hersonissos and Malia then
Stalis is the perfect choice.
Holiday in Stalis can be a lively affair
but it does have certain laid back atmosphere about the place, and
still manages to maintain some of its Greek charm. Backed by rugged
mountains, the immediate inland surroundings are pretty with a vast
array fruit and olive groves, it’s got a gorgeous long sandy beach
only divided by rocks, which starts from Stalis and stretches all the
way to Malia and beyond.
The beach at Stalis is a narrow beach
fringed by an unbroken line of hotels, restaurants, bars and tavernas,
and just behind these are more of the same, as you walk further east
towards Malia the beach gets quieter and slightly broader.
Stalis
location is ideal if you like to visit other towns while on holiday,
it has plenty of options to the east and the west, two of the towns
which spring to mind are Aghios Nikolaous and Elounda, both are
located to the east of Stalis and are picture postcard with pretty
harbours, they’re easily accessible by a regular bus service which
runs by Stalis and would take you approximately 40-50 mins or quicker
by taxi.
Stalis is a good
all round resort with something for everyone and plenty to do if you
fancy it. It’s got a superb beach with plenty of water-sports and is
in an excellent location, not far from other resorts to enjoy great
days out.
JOURNEY TIME
Heraklion Airport to Stalis is approx 30Kms (19miles) - 30mins by taxi
