An Introduction to Trianda
|
- Located on the north west coast of Rhodes, Trianda is approximately 7km west
of Rhodes Town, lying between the resorts of Kremasti and Ixia and is fast
becoming a popular holiday resort. The village is situated at the foot of a
pine-clad hill and is surrounded by olive and citrus groves. A regular bus and
taxi service connects all the surrounding resorts. For exploring the east and
south east coast, buses and taxis operate from Rhodes Town.
- The resort centre has a traditional village feel, although it's set amongst
some modern developments - it still retains its character of a Rhodian village.
The shops, tavernas and cafes cater to both the friendly and welcoming locals,
and holidaymakers. The old village with stunning examples of Byzantine
architecture and Byzantine Monastery, with its narrow streets and central square
has remained unchanged for decades.
The village centre lies inland and is a 10min walk down to the beachfront.
- The long stretch of Trianda Beach - approximately 3km - and virtually
joining Ixia, is one of the main attractions. With good beach facilities,
including beachside cafes and souvenir shops, the shingle/pebble beach with its
clear blue waters is great for relaxing, or for the more active, provides
excellent water-sport facilities including windsurfing, kiteboarding and
sailing. Trianda beach is north facing and the winds pick up from 3pm to
6pm - the most popular time for surfing. There are Windsurfing stations on the
beach and tuition is readily available.
- The relaxed nightlife centres around the long esplanade on the beachfront,
which lights up at night, where you'll find a good selection of restaurants,
tavernas, cafes, bars and a couple of clubs. For a greater variety of clubs,
Rhodes Town is a short ride away. For a quieter and slower pace of life, try the
local village tavernas serving delicious traditional Greek specialities.
- Ideal for families, couples, groups of friends, and water-sport enthusiasts
- Journey time from Rhodes airport - 15mins - 5miles/8km
- What we really like:
It's a haven for Windsurfers. The tranquil setting
for a relaxing laid-back holiday, suitable for all ages and the opportunity to
experience traditional village life. Its close proximity to Rhodes Town
for culture and interesting shopping.
